Andrew and Leanne McIntosh purchased Redrock Retreat in 2019. Their aim is to make your stay, comfortable and relaxing as you work in or explore the South Burnett. They love this region – its serenity and surrounding bushland. The fact that it’s close to major centres and facilities, whilst being distant enough to provide a real retreat from the cares of the outside world. Redrock Retreat is certainly a place to enjoy the best of the region, its views and breezes.

They reside in the property’s main house; an original 1940s farmhouse which was relocated to its current site by local artists and former owners, Don and Judy McCallum in 1989. The McCallum’s went on to develop Captain’s Paddock Winery (now closed) in 1995, eventually splitting the land into its current configuration.

Redrock Retreat’s stunning architect designed studio cabins were built by Neil and Jan Archer, who ran the award winning Redrock on Booie, which helped pioneer tourism in the South Burnett region.

Andrew and Leanne are continuing to work on the property, enhancing its natural landscaping and gardens with a view to attract more of the local wildlife. Their focus is on improved self-sufficiency and building environmental sustainability, using permaculture techniques and planting native trees and grasses. To this end they have chickens and have established a fruit and vegetable patch, as well as a small orchard. You’re welcome to explore the property on its walks, during your stay.

At Redrock Retreat we are committed to building sustainability and protecting the natural environment, through caring for the land by conserving water, reducing soil degradation, building self-sufficiency and using locally made produce and products. We currently employ best practice principles for our accommodation and activities through the below.

  • Use of harvested rainwater which is triple treated for hygiene
  • Water efficient showers and dual flush toilets
  • Enviro septic system
  • Energy efficient appliances
  • Solar electricity
  • Bio-degradable cleaners and products
  • Landscaping with natives and low water plants

We encourage our guests to raise awareness of environmental concerns through their personal efforts in water conservation, conserving electricity and collecting rubbish into bins provided.
