Redrock Retreat is located on the Booie Range in South Burnett, traditional Wakka Wakka country. It’s a 10-minute drive from nearby Kingaroy and less than 3-hours drive from Brisbane. In recent years, the Booie Range has enjoyed a resurgence amongst leisure and business travelers, who enjoy its proximity to town but appreciate its own unique charms and attractions.

As well as Redrock Retreat, there’s award-winning wineries and cellar doors, gourmet cafes and restaurants, a vibrant arts community and plethora of outdoor activities available.

This includes exploring on foot, endurance horse riding, freshwater fishing at the nearby Boondooma and Bjelke – Petersen Dams and easy access to the spectacular Bunya Mountains.

At night, enjoy the serenity of our private property and your cabin in the trees. Take the time to look up and enjoy the billions of stars overhead. In the past, our property was used for grazing cattle, but along the escarpment where the cabins are positioned, native bush was maintained as a natural haven for birds and wildlife. Redrock Retreat’s lower paddocks host a hardwood plantation of haunting beauty, which you’re welcome to explore.

Kingaroy is the closest township to Booie Range and Redrock Retreat. Its name comes from the Wakka Wakka word ‘Kingaroori’, which means ‘Red Ant’ who can be found here in abundance. There’s also plenty of rich, red volcanic soils and rocks, which gave the name to our retreat. Kingaroy is the best place to purchase your food and beverage supplies when staying at Redrock Retreat. It’s a short drive, but too far to walk.

We encourage you to explore Kingaroy and the South Burnett during your stay with us. You will find country hospitality and a delightful and delicious range of local attractions and activities. Highlights include the Kingaroy Observatory and its nightly star gazing show, which can seat up to 40 people. Advance bookings are essential. The Pottique Lavender Farm is open on weekends and is a delightful place to explore the lavender gardens and sample a range of lavender cuisine and beverages. Or visit the nearby Kingsley Grove Estate Vineyard and Winery, which is part of the South Burnett Wine Trail. There’s wine tastings a cellar door and they do freshly made, wood-fired pizzas.

There’s lots of activities and attractions to keep you entertained during your stay at Redrock Retreat. So why not plan to stay a little longer and see the best of the South Burnett by day, retreating to your cabin amongst the trees by night.
